The San Diego State softball team completed a weekend series sweep with a 10-6 victory over Boise State Sunday afternoon in Boise, Idaho. The Aztecs (23-12) remain in first place in the Mountain West at 6-0 with their 10th consecutive conference victory dating back to last year.

SDSU, which scored five runs apiece over the final three innings in a 16-2 win over the Broncos (8-28, 0-6 MW) yesterday, continued where it left off with six scores in the top of the first. San Diego State loaded the bases with no outs on consecutive singles by senior Kayla Jordan (San Diego/Bonita Vista HS) and sophomore Sydnee Cable (Huntington Beach, Calif.), and a four-pitch walk to senior Lorena Bauer (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS). Freshman Jenavee Peres (Garden Grove, Calif.) then scored Jordan on a groundout and junior Kayla Bufardeci (Castro Valley, Calif.) followed with a two-run double. After a single by senior Kaitlin Connors (San Diego/La Costa Canyon HS) and a lineout, junior Leia Ruiz (Chino, Calif.) ripped a double to left field to plate Bufardeci and Connors. Ruiz later scored on a wild pitch to account for the Aztecs' sixth and final run of the decisive inning.

Shaelee Pearson got one back for BSU when she led off the bottom of the first with a home run.

Boise State added two more runs in the fourth on a solo homer by Hailey Torrez and a double by Sara Ketelsleger that scored Ariel Frantz.

SDSU ended its three-inning draught with two scores in the fifth, highlighted by a solo home run by Bufardeci. After Ruiz had her second double of the game, junior Samantha Camello (Temecula, Calif.) singled to right to make it 8-3 San Diego State.

The Broncos closed the gap to two runs at 8-6 with a three-run sixth, thanks to a two-run home run by Ketelsleger and Frantz scoring on an Aztec throwing error.

SDSU, however, tacked on two more runs in the top of the seventh with two outs. Camello kept the inning alive with an infield single and scored on a double to left-center field by Jordan. After Cable was hit by a pitch for the 17th time of her career, breaking a school record in the process, Bauer singled to left field to knock in Jordan with the game's final run.

Cable replaced sophomore starting pitcher Erica Romero (Corona, Calif.) and retired BSU in order to seal the series sweep.

San Diego State, which outhit Boise State, 13-10, was led by Camello, who went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Bufardeci homered, doubled, walked, and had three RBIs and two runs. Ruiz scored two runs and drove in two with her two doubles, while Jordan had two hits, including her team-leading 11th double of the year, and two runs. Bauer, who yesterday set Aztec single-game records with three home runs and seven RBIs, was 1-for-2 today with an RBI single, run and walk.

Romero (21-9) picked up the win after allowing six runs on 10 hits and two walks over six innings. Cable tossed a perfect seventh inning of relief.

SDSU, which has won each of the last three MW titles, welcomes MW preseason favorite Fresno State for a key three-game series this week, beginning at 6 p.m. PT Thursday.
