The San Diego State women's tennis team defeated Nevada, 4-1, to bring its Mountain West record to 1-1. The Aztecs fell behind early but did enough in singles play to take the win. SDSU now holds a 9-9 overall record.
In doubles action, Shelia Morales and Blaga Delic topped Kristin Buth and Isabelle Hoorn in the top spot, 6-2. Juliette Legendre and Sheila Smiley knocked off Hailey Johnson and Kennedy Davis on court No. 2, 6-3. Despite the point being awarded, Dora Somoracz and Paola Diaz de Regules defeated Elissa Pavelea and Monika Magusiak in the third position, 6-3.
In singles play, Tami Nguyen got past Legendre in the second spot due to a retirement, 6-1, 3-2. In the sixth position, Somoracz defeated Pavelea to give the Aztecs their second point, 6-0, 6-2. On court No. 5, Diaz topped Magusiak to put SDSU within a point of victory, 6-1, 6-0. Davis claimed the match for San Diego State as she defeated Smiley in the third spot, 6-2, 7-5.
The Aztecs will get back on the courts on April 7 when they face CSUN at Aztec Tennis Center.
