SAN DIEGO -

The San Diego State track and field team wrapped up another successful Aztec Invitational Saturday at the AzTrack in San Diego.

The meet included over 1,700 high school, college, university and professional athletes with a total of 3,500 marks in the meet. Additionally, state and national teams from Brazil and Mexico, as well as a Mexican high school team, competed in the meet. Over 35 track and field clubs came to SDSU as well, making it one of top meets on the entire West Coast.

In all, three meet records were set and two facility record were broken over the three-day competition. Those belonged to Brazil's Geisa Coutinho in the 400 (51.93, women's meet/facility record), Empire Track Club/Saudi Arabia's Ali Alderaan in the 800 (1:45.83, men's meet/facility record) and World Athletics Center's Lindsay Lindley in the 100-meter hurdles (13.10, women's meet record).

Alexa Evans won the invitational discus throw on the final day of the three-day meet, while the 4x100-meter relay team ran the eighth-fastest time in program history.

Evans won the discus with a heave of 169 feet, 7 inches (51.70m) in a field of 40 entrants. She added a sixth-place showing in the invitational shot put with a toss of 45-01.00 (13.74m).

The 4x100 of Jazmen Bunch, Ashley Henderson, Micha Auzenne and Simone Glenn ran a time of 44.91 seconds, which was the eighth-fastest time in school history and only trailed the Brazilian Olympic Committee (44.14) in the race.

The 4x400, meanwhile, of Tyra Lea, Glenn, Madison Gipson and Henderson came in second in 3:45.27.

Bonnie Draxler was the top collegiate finisher in the pole vault flight 2 invitational and second overall with a mark of 13-00.75 (3.98m), while Kristen Brown tied for third with the same mark. Brown added a third-place showing in the invitational 100 hurdles in 13.51, and teamed up with Draxler, Kira Moreland and Starlynn Singleton for a fourth-place showing in the 4x100 in 46.44.

Henderson came in third in the invitational 100 (11.64) and sixth in the invitational 400 (56.35), Lea was third in the invitational 400 (55.14), and Ariel Oliver took third in the invitational shot put in 46-02.50 (14.08m) and seventh in the invitational discus (155-09 (47.47m)).

Auzenne also came in fourth in the invitational 100 hurdles (13.73) and ninth in the invitational 100 (11.84), Dynasty Gammage (2:11.99) and Ellison Grove (2:12.15) finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in the invitational 800, Gipson was fifth in the invitational 400 hurdles (1:03.77) and Bunch was ninth in the invitational 200 in a wind-aided 24.51.

Other top-10 marks in the field events included Jasmine Burrell in the invitational discus (fifth, 161-05 (49.20m)), Kortney Ross (tied for fifth, 12-06.75 (3.83m)) and Holly Waseloff (tied for eighth, 12-00.75 (3.68m)) in the pole vault flight invitational 2, and Singleton in the invitational long jump (seventh, 17-08.25 (5.39m)).

The Aztecs return to the track next Saturday (April 4) for the UCLA Double Duel, beginning at 10 a.m. PT.
