SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Ty Moore's three-run homer in the top of the 13th propelled No. 6 UCLA to a 5-2 victory over San Diego State Tuesday night at Tony Gwynn Stadium. The result ended a four-game winning streak for the Aztec who saw their record fall to 19-6.

UCLA (18-5) came out in the first inning and immediately loaded the bases with no outs on a pair of singles and a walk against SDSU starter Cody Thompson. The sophomore right-hander, however, was able to get out of the inning allowing just a single run. He would go on to toss 8.1 innings surrendering the one run on five hits with a walk and six strikeouts.

The Aztecs tied the game in the bottom of the fifth. A two-out single by Chase Calabuig and a ground rule double by David Hensley plus a Bruin fielding error made it a 1-1 game.

UCLA had the best chance to win the contest in regulation when it put runners at first and third with two out in the ninth, but CJ Saylor came on and struck out the first batter he faced to end the threat.

After two scoreless extra frames, the Bruins scored in the top of the 12th. Trent Chatterton led off with a single, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt and went to third on a comebacker to the pitcher. At that point Saylor unloaded a wild pitch to allow Chatterton to come home and give the visitors a 2-1 lead.

With All-American closer David Berg on the mound for UCLA it appeared the Bruins were on the way to victory. But Aztec designated hitter Ryan Muno had other ideas as he took a pitch from Berg and deposited it over the left field fence to tie the contest at 2-2.

In the top or the 13th a walk and an error put two men on with one out before Moore took Saylor deep over the fence in right center with the three run shot. That hit made a loser of Saylor who fell to 0-1 on the year. UCLA's Berg retired the side in order in the bottom of the 13th to record his second win against no defeats.

Andre Brown and Calabuig each had a pair of singles for San Diego State to account for half of their team's hits on the night.

The Aztecs will now travel to Las Vegas for a three-game series against UNLV this weekend. That set gets underway on Friday, March 27, at 6:00 p.m. at the Rebels' Earl E. Wilson Stadium.
