LOS ANGELES - The San Diego State women's tennis team concluded its two-match weekend with an exclamation point on Sunday. The Aztecs swept every point at LMU Tennis Center and posted an impressive 7-0 score. With the victory, SDSU now holds a 7-8 mark on the season.
Competing in doubles without her sister Jana for the first time this season, Kristin Buth combined with Isabelle Hoorn to defeat Lisa Piller and Ellie Grossman in the first spot, 6-2. Jana Buth suffered a severe ankle injury during Friday's 4-3 loss to Princeton. Dora Somoracz and Kennedy Davis fell to Julia Norlin and Andrea Crespo on court No. 3, 6-3. Hailey Johnson and Tami Nguyen clinched the doubles point as they defeated Anna Romeka and Jessica Perez in the second spot, 7-6 (3).
In singles play, Hoorn dismissed Norlin in the sixth position, 6-2, 6-1. In first singles, Kristin Buth downed Perez, 7-5, 6-3. In the third spot, David defeated Romekam 7-5, 6-4. On court No. 4, Johnson topped Kouyoumjian, 7-6 (3), 6-4. In the second spot, Nguyen battled to take her point over Crespo, 6-3, 6-7, 6-2. Court No. 5 saw Paola Diaz de Regules finish off the Lions as she got past Gorssman, 5-7, 6-3, 6-3.
San Diego State will return home to Aztec Tennis Center to face Sacramento State on March 24.
