Senior Lorena Bauer (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS) became San Diego State softball's all-time leader in home runs with a grand slam in the bottom of the fourth inning and sophomore Erica Romero (Corona, Calif.) tossed a complete game shutout in a 4-0 win over UNLV Saturday night at SDSU Softball Stadium. The victory gave the Aztecs (19-12, 2-0 MW) the weekend series over the Rebels (14-16, 0-2 MW).

Junior Samantha Camello (Temecula, Calif.) started the decisive third by reaching on a throwing error by UNLV shortstop Garie Blando, before senior Kayla Jordan (San Diego/Bonita Vista HS) and sophomore Sydnee Cable (Huntington Beach, Calif.) had back-to-back singles up the middle to load the bases. Bauer then took a 1-0 pitch well over the left-center field fence for the only runs of the game.

It was the 47th career homer for Bauer, which passed Patrice Jackson (46 from 2010, 12-14) for the most all-time in school history. Bauer set the record during her junior season in 2013, but redshirted last year and Jackson passed her. Bauer now has six career records at San Diego State, including slugging percentage, OPS percentage (SLG % + OB%), home runs, RBIs, total bases and extra-base hits.

Bauer also added a walk for the Aztecs, while Jordan had two singles.

Romero (17-9) recorded her fourth shutout of the season after allowing six hits and two walks over seven innings, while striking out six. The right-hander stranded nine Rebels in the game, limiting them to a .077 average (1-for-13) with runners on base and an 0-for-5 outing with runners in scoring position. Romero has pitched all 14 innings in the series, yielding just one unearned run.

SDSU wraps up the series with UNLV at noon PT Sunday. Fans are encouraged to arrive early as a big crowd is expected.
