TARZANA, Calif. - The San Diego State women's golf team finds itself in second place at the Bruin Wave Invitational after play was suspended on Monday toward the end of round two due to darkness. Collectively, the Aztecs sit at 25-over par and are one of 12 teams in the 15-school field to finish at least 33 holes on par-72, 6,173-yard El Caballero Country Club.

Currently, SDSU boasts two players on the individual top 10, including Sirene Blair (South Jordan, Utah), who occupies the third spot at 2-over, followed closely by Emma Henrikson (Malmö, Sweden), who remains one shot behind in the seventh position at 3-over.

Blair opened with a 73 in the morning session, offsetting five bogeys with four birdies, including back-to-back conversions on holes 7-8. The Aztec sophomore got off to a rocky start in the second round, posting a bogey at No. 5, followed by a double-bogey on the 11th, before regrouping with a pair of additional birdies on the back-nine, including a successful make on the par-5 No. 17 when play was halted.

With her effort, Blair joins Charlotte Thomas of Washington, UCLA's Erynne Lee and Hayley Davis of Baylor in a four-way logjam behind Stanford's front-runner Lauren Kim (-1), while Anico Yoo (E) lurks in second.

Henrikson, meanwhile, posted SDSU's lowest score of the opening round with a 71, highlighted by six birdies, including an impressive conversion on the par-4, 350-yard No. 14, which played as the second-toughest hole of the morning session. The native Swede drained five additional birdies in the second round; however her momentum has been somewhat tempered thanks to nine bogeys through 15 holes, including five straight on the back nine.

Elsewhere, Mila Chaves (Asuncion, Paraguay) remains in a tie for 24th at 8-over after shooting a 76 in the morning, followed by 4-over clip in the second round. The Aztec freshman recorded two birdies apiece between each session, including a successful make on the aforementioned 14th in round one.

On the other hand, Paige Spiranac (Scottsdale, Ariz.) found birdies elusive on the opening day of the tournament. After posting an 83 in the morning, the SDSU senior has rebounded nicely through the first 16 holes of the second round, recording eight straight pars followed by a birdie on No. 1 when play was stopped. With her effort, Spiranac climbed 28 places from the first round into a tie for 37th.

Rounding out the Aztec contingency was freshman Georgia Lacey (Del Mar, Calif.), who sits in 72nd at 21-over with two holes left in the second round.

In the team standings, Washington (+13) enjoyed a sizable 12-stroke advantage over the Aztecs (+25) at the stoppage of play, while Oklahoma State (+26), UCLA (+26) and Stanford (+29).

The Bruin Wave Invitational, which endured a 35-minute rain delay on Monday, resumes Tuesday with the completion of the second round, starting at 8 a.m. PT. SDSU will continue with its pairing alongside New Mexico and Oklahoma State for the final 18 holes, which will follow immediately.
