SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's lacrosse team proved to be too much for Winthrop on Wednesday evening, as senior Michaela Jarvis recorded four goals and three assists to lift the Aztecs over the Eagles, 17-7, at Aztec Lacrosse Field.

SDSU (6-2, 3-0 MPSF) earned its sixth-straight victory despite falling behind 3-1 in the game's first 13 minutes. The Aztecs have also won the first three games of its four-game homestand, as San Diego State has started 3-0 at home for the first time in program history.

"We're playing with confidence right now, and we know that lacrosse is a game of runs," head coach Kylee White said. "(Winthrop) scored three early goals, but we made a small adjustment that changed the course of the game."

Wednesday was the Aztecs' 11th-straight win when leading at halftime and 10th-consecutive victory when scoring at least 15 goals. SDSU also earned its sixth win in a row when having the advantage in draw controls (17-9) and its fourth-straight win when outshooting its opponent (30-16).

In addition, San Diego State held Winthrop (7-2) senior Jenna Kasmarik scoreless on only four shots attempted, after Kasmarik entered the game leading the nation in goals scored (37) and goals per game (5.29). White credited senior Madison Wallace for her defensive effort in helping shut down one of the country's most prolific scorers.

After falling behind early on, SDSU scored four-straight goals and eight of the next nine to take a 9-4 lead, capped off by sophomore Vickie Porter's goal from Jarvis' assist with 20:52 remaining. The Aztecs used a 6-0 run later in the second half to put the game away, as consecutive goals by Jarvis made it 14-5 with 5:15 left to play.

Several Aztecs had a big night offensively, as senior Lauren Maack continued her recent surge with two goals and four assists, while senior Christina Ricciardulli, junior Felice Artuso and Porter each recorded three goals with one assist. Ricciardulli also tallied six draw controls and three groundballs, Artuso had five draw controls and Porter finished with draws.

Defensively, Maack, senior Lauren Paul and junior Alexa Comfort caused two turnovers apiece, while sophomore goalkeeper Katrina Reeves racked up six saves in one of the Aztecs' best defensive performances of the season.

"Things always seem better when you're winning, but there's no complacency," White said. "We'll take a day off, and then we'll get back to work to prepare for a conference opponent. We're not resting on our laurels."

San Diego State returns to action on Sunday, March 22, as the Aztecs go for their seventh-straight victory when they play host to Mountain Pacific Sports Federation foe Saint Mary's beginning at noon PT.
