2015 SCHEDULE

The San Diego State football team has released its 2015 schedule, highlighted by Mountain West home games against Fresno State, Utah State, Wyoming and Nevada.

The Aztecs are also scheduled to play a non-conference home contest against South Alabama, non-league road games at California and Penn State, and MW road contests at Hawai`i, San José State, Colorado State and Wyoming.

Game times and television arrangements, including moves to non-Saturdays will be announced at a later date.

SDSU is coming off its fifth consecutive bowl game appearance in 2014, finishing with a 7-6 record and first-place tie in the West Division of the Mountain West at 5-3.

Currently, San Diego State opens the 2015 slate at California on Sept. 12, where the Aztecs and Bears will be meeting for the seventh time with each team knotted at three wins apiece. It will be the first meeting between the two schools since 1996. Cal was 5-7 last year, including a 3-6 mark in Pac-12 play.

SDSU then welcomes South Alabama to Qualcomm Stadium on Sept. 19 in another non-league game. The Jaguars finished 6-7 last season, culminating in a 33-28 loss to Bowling Green in the Raycomm Media Camellia Bowl in Montgomery, Ala., on Dec. 20. USA was 5-3 in the Sun Belt Conference, tying for fourth place.

San Diego State then wraps up its non-conference play in a road contest at Penn State on Sept. 26. The Nittany Lions were 7-6 in 2014 (2-6 in Big Ten play), eventually beating Boston College, 31-30, in overtime at the New Era Pinstripe Bowl on Dec. 27. The Aztecs and PSU have never played.

SDSU kicks off its MW slate on Oct. 3, when it welcomes Fresno State to Qualcomm Stadium. The Bulldogs tied San Diego State for first in the West Division of the MW last year at 5-3 after beating the Aztecs, 24-13, in Fresno on Oct. 3. They went onto finish 6-8 overall, falling to Rice, 30-6, in the Hawai`i Bowl on Dec. 24. FS has won the West Division in back-to-back seasons (2013-14) and tied for a share of the conference title in 2012 with SDSU and Boise State (split divisions (West and Mountain) started in 2013). San Diego State leads the all-time series with Fresno State 27-23-4.

The Aztecs hit the road the following week (Oct. 10) to take on Hawai`i. SDSU has won three straight in the series, including a 20-10 win at home last year, and is 18-9-2 all-time against the Rainbow Warriors. UH was 4-9 overall last year and 3-5 in the MW.

San Diego State stays on the road to play at San José State on Oct. 17. The Aztecs beat the Spartans, 38-7, at home last year, thanks to 267 rushing yards and three touchdowns by Donnel Pumphrey and 393 team rushing yards. SDSU has won the past two meetings, but trails the all-time series, 19-17-2.

San Diego State returns to America's Finest City on Oct. 24 to take on Utah State. The Aggies, who were 10-4 overall last year and 6-2 in the MW, beat UTEP, 21-6, in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl on Dec. 20. USU is also 30-11 over its last three seasons. SDSU leads the all-time series with Utah State, 10-1, winning 41-7 in the last meeting at home in 2010.

San Diego State follows with a trip to Colorado State on Halloween (Oct. 31). The Rams are coming off one of their best years in program history, going 10-3 overall and 6-2 in league action, ending with a 45-10 loss to Utah in the Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl. The Aztecs have the advantage in the series by a 19-13 margin and won the last meeting, 38-14, in 2012.

Following its bye week (Nov. 7), SDSU finishes its regular season with two home games over the final three weeks, beginning Nov. 14 vs. Wyoming. The Cowboys were 4-8 last year overall and 2-6 in league play. San Diego State trails the all-time series, 18-16, but came from behind to win in Laramie, 42-28, in the last meeting in 2012.

The Aztecs hit the road for the final time of the regular season at UNLV on Nov. 21. SDSU won last year, 34-17, at home and has won four of the past five meetings with the Rebels and is 10-3 in the series since 2002 (15-9 all-time). UNLV was 2-11 last season and 1-7 in league play.

San Diego State plays host to Nevada on Senior Day on Nov. 28 in the final regular season games for both schools. The Wolf Pack defeated the Aztecs, 30-14, last year in Reno, snapping a four-game skid against SDSU. San Diego State still has a slight edge in the series at 4-3. Nevada was 7-6 last year and 4-4 in league play, falling to Louisiana-Lafayette, 16-3, in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl on Dec. 20.

The Aztecs could still add another home game to their 2015 schedule, most likely on their first open date of the season on Sept. 5.

The third conference championship game will take place on Dec. 5 and will match the winner of the West Division (SDSU, Fresno State, Hawai'i, Nevada, San José State and Nevada) and the Mountain Division (Air Force, Boise State, Colorado State, New Mexico, Utah State and Wyoming) at the highest-ranked division champion.

SDSU is accepting new account deposits on 2015 season tickets through the Aztec Ticket Office. Additionally, current season-ticket holders can renew their tickets for the 2015 season.
