SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The San Diego State swimming and diving team has moved into first place in the team standings after day three at the 2015 Mountain West Championships in San Antonio, Texas.

The Aztecs have 493 points to lead defending champion Boise State, which sits in second place with 446.50 points. Nevada is third at 368 points. The meet concludes on Saturday with six swimming events and the platform diving to be contested before the conference champion is crowned.

SDSU began Friday's finals session by capturing the 400 medley relay as the team of Anika Apostalon, Emilee Campbell, Summer Harrison and Chelsea Bailey turned in a time of 3:35.19. That mark fell just .06 second shy of the meet and conference record set by the Aztecs as the league meet a year ago. Apostalon continued her stellar week in San Antonio later in the evening as she successfully defended her title in the 100 backstroke, winning in a time of 52.38. Bailey would pick up points by finishing first in the B final (9th overall) in 54.37, the third fastest time in SDSU history. Both Apostalon's and Bailey's marks were NCAA `B" cuts.

In the 400 individual medley, sophomore Frida Berggren captured second place with the second-fastest time ever by an Aztec. SDSU also had two other in the championship final with Caroline Mitchell finishing fourth in 4:21.29 and Shannon Herman taking the fifth spot in 4:22.08.

San Diego State also picked up second-place points in the 100 butterfly where freshman Summer Harrison took the runner-up spot in 52.73. Her time was a new Aztec school record as well as an NCAA `B' cut. Teammate Samantha Guttmacher won the consolation final in 54.02, the fourth-fastest time in program history.

The 100 breaststroke final saw Aztec senior Emilie Campbell capture third place in 1:01.85. Her time of 1:01.39 in the prelims goes into the SDSU record book as the program's second-fastest time. SDSU also had two other swimmers score points in the 100 breast final with Cecilia Zaccarelli placing seventh (1:02.33) and Laura Day finishing eighth (1:02.41). Zaccarelli's time was the fourth-fastest ever by an Aztec.
