SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State softball team rallied from a five-run deficit to defeat Central Michigan, 9-5, and claim its second straight Campbell/Cartier Classic title Saturday night at SDSU Softball Stadium. The Aztecs (7-2) went a perfect 4-0 in the tournament and now have three CCC titles in its 25-year history.

It was the second straight game that SDSU rallied from a deficit to win. In the nightcap on Friday night, San Diego State spotted Seton Hall three runs in the first, then scored the final four in a 4-3 triumph. In tonight's game, the Chippewas scored one run in the bottom of the second and four more in the third to take a commanding 5-0 lead into the fourth inning before the Aztecs tied it with five runs in the fourth and added four more in the fifth for the 9-5 victory.

SDSU, which also beat North Dakota State and Oregon State in the five-team tourney, banged out 13 hits, including two homers, a triple and a double.

Senior Kayla Jordan (San Diego/Bonita Vista HS) had three hits, including a two-run triple, and a run, while senior Hayley Miles (Antelope, Calif.) was 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, two runs, a walk and a hit by pitch. Senior Lorena Bauer (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS) came off the bench for the first time of the year and was 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI. Junior Samantha Camello (Temecula, Calif.) added a two-run homer, her first at San Diego State, to go along with a run, walk and sacrifice bunt.

Sophomore Erica Romero (Corona, Calif.) got her fourth win of the weekend after allowing one run on three hits over five innings of relief. She struck out two and is now 6-2 on the year. For the weekend, Romero pitched 26 of the team's 28 innings, going 4-0 with a 1.08 ERA, limiting the opposition to a .215 average. Freshman Taylor Stewart (Bellflower, Calif.) made her first start and appearance in the circle, yielding four runs on six hits over two innings.

The Aztecs head to the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in Cathedral City this weekend where they will face four nationally ranked teams and another that is receiving votes in a national poll. SDSU plays No. 4/3 Oklahoma (3:30 p.m. PT) and No. 16/16 LSU (6 p.m. PT) on Thursday, No. 19/20 Nebraska (5:30 p.m. PT) on Friday, No. 5/6 Kentucky (8 p.m. PT) on Saturday and Stanford (2 p.m. PT) on Sunday.
