SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State rallied from a three-run deficit to defeat Seton Hall, 4-3, and complete a doubleheader sweep Friday night at the 25th annual Campbell/Cartier Classic at SDSU Softball Stadium. The Aztecs (6-2) also shut out Oregon State, 2-0, as sophomore Erica Romero (Corona, Calif.) pitched all 14 innings on the day for SDSU.

In the nightcap, San Diego State spotted the Pirates (5-2) a 3-0 lead after one inning, but scored a run apiece in the third, fourth and fifth to tie it a 3-3. In the top of the seventh with two outs, senior Lorena Bauer (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS), who had reached on a fielder's choice, moved to second on a single by junior Kayla Bufardeci (Castro Valley, Calif.). Sophomore Jaylene Ignacio (Oceanside, Calif./El Camino) followed with a double down the left field line to plate Bauer with the eventual game-winning run.

Romero (5-2) retired SHU in order in the bottom half on three straight groundouts to clinch her second win of the day for the Aztecs.

SDSU got its first run in the third on back-to-back doubles by senior Hayley Miles (Antelope, Calif.) and junior Leia Ruiz (Chino, Calif.).

In the fourth, junior Samantha Camello's (Temecula, Calif.) two-out single plated Ignacio with the bases loaded. San Diego State, however, was unable to get another run across the plate, leaving three on base.

The Aztecs tied it in the fifth as senior Kayla Jordan (San Diego/Bonita Vista HS) walked, stole second and scored on a double to right-center field by Bufardeci, before Ignacio's heroics put SDSU ahead for good in the top of the seventh.

Bufardeci had two hits to pace San Diego State, which outhit Seton Hall, 9-5, in the contest. Jordan drew three walks, stole two bases and scored a run, while sophomore Sydnee Cable (Huntington Beach, Calif.) was 2-for-2 off the bench. Altogether, the Aztecs banged out five doubles.

Romero allowed two runs on five hits over seven innings of relief, while striking out three. Sophomore Andi Smith (Orangeville, Utah) started the game, but allowed a run on a walk without recording an out.

In the opener, SDSU got a complete game shutout from Romero in the 2-0 win over the Beavers (6-3). The right-hander yielded five hits and hit a batter, while striking out two. Over the two games and 14 innings, Romero went 2-0 with a 1.00 ERA and just 10 hits allowed, limiting the opposition to a .200 average. She struck out five without issuing a walk.

San Diego State took the 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third thanks to a little small ball and a bit of luck. Freshman Jenavee Peres (Garden Grove, Calif.) led off and reached via OSU error, then moved to second on sacrifice bunt by Camello. Junior Monica Downey (San Diego/Madison HS) followed with a single to right field to score Peres from second.

The Aztecs went the other way in the sixth as Bufardeci drilled a two-out, first pitch well over the left field fence for the final run of the game.

Downey was 2-for-2 with an RBI to pace the SDSU offense, while Bufardeci and Miles had the team's other hits.

San Diego State looks to claim its second straight Campbell/Cartier Classic title and third in the history of the tournament with a win against Central Michigan at 4:30 p.m. PT Saturday.
