SAN DIEGO - San Diego State rowing head coach Bill Zack has announced the addition of Gina Bourke to the 2014-15 roster. The rower will be eligible to compete in the upcoming spring slate for the Aztecs.

"We are excited to add Gina to the team," Zack said. "In just a few short days she has already formed strong friendships with the other rowers and coxswains, who are always welcoming to newcomers. Gina's experience in high-level scholastic competition in New Zealand makes her a strong addition to the team and adds to our depth as we build toward winning the conference automatic qualifier in the American."

The native of Wellington, New Zealand, was a member of the rowing team at Wellington Girls' College where she was a teammate of current Aztec team member, Isabelle Paul. While part of the Wellington Girls' College crew, Bourke was a member of the team that was named Crew of the Year. In addition, the crew earned third-place honors at the North Island Championships and was the fourth-place finisher at the MADDI, which is the national championship regatta for secondary school rowing crews.

The 5-7 Bourke joins an SDSU crew that will be competing as first-year members of the American Athletic Conference. The Aztecs open their spring schedule on March 7 when they travel north to face UCLA in Marina Del Rey, Calif.
