SAN DIEGO, Calif. - San Diego State third baseman Ty France has been named a Louisville Slugger Third-Team Preseason All-American by Collegiate Baseball magazine. The junior from West Covina, Calif., is coming off a season that saw him earn third-team All-America honors from both Baseball America and Perfect Game at the end of the 2014 campaign.

France led the Aztecs in hitting last season with a .356 average. He also recorded 18 doubles, five home runs, 45 RBI and 28 walks. His .450 on-base percentage led the squad while his .498 slugging mark was second on the team. He was a first-team all-Mountain West selection after batting .333 in league play and ranking among the top eight in the conference in 10 offensive categories.

As a freshman in2013, France was named a third-team Freshman All-American by Baseball America after hitting .317 with 14 doubles, five home runs and 36 RBI. He was selected the MVP of the 2013 Mountain West tournament when he batted .726 and set the record for hits in the tourney with 16, earning National Player of the Week honors from Collegiate Baseball.

San Diego State will open its 2015 baseball season on Friday, Feb. 13, at 6:00 p.m. when it hosts Valparaiso at Tony Gwynn Stadium.
