SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State rowing team completed its fall slate on Sunday as it participated in the San Diego Fall Classic, which was held on Mission Bay. The Aztec `A' crew in the novice eight race posted SDSU's best finish at the event as they placed second, behind only San Diego's `A' boat.
The open eight race kicked off competition for San Diego State on Sunday morning. The Aztecs entered two boats into the race, an `A' and `B' team. The `A' crew for SDSU would finish in the ninth position, with a time of 18 minutes, 50 seconds, and was assessed a minute penalty for interference. The San Diego State `B' boat crossed the finish line with a time of 19:16 and came in 11th place.
The novice eight race proved to be the best finish for the Aztecs. The SDSU `A' crew (20:02) finished in the runner-up positon, behind only San Diego (18:43). San Diego State's `B' crew posted a fourth place finish with a time of 22:08.
The Aztecs will begin their spring season on March 7 when they travel north to face UCLA.
