Fall Classic II Day One Results
The San Diego State women's tennis team posted five victories on the first day of the SDSU Fall Classic II on Friday. The Aztecs notched two wins in doubles action and three in singles play. Tennis will resume tomorrow at Aztec Tennis Center.
In the red doubles draw, Tami Nguyen and Dora Somoracz recorded the Aztecs' first victory as they defeated Sonja Radosevic and Michelle Garpenlov of Denver, 8-6. Kristin and Jana Buth could not get past Davina Meza and Duda Santos of UTEP, 8-4. Also finding a similar fate in the black draw were Hailey Johnson and Kennedy Davis as the duo fell to Bea Santos and Kelli Hine of Missouri, 8-2. In the white bracket, Olivia Larsson and Paola Diaz de Regules came away with the win over Natasha Rizvi and Jocelle Rudico of Air Force, 8-6.
In the red singles draw, Nguyen battled Hine of Missouri but came up short, 6-3, 4-6, 10-6. Also coming close was Kristin Buth as she fell to Maureen Slattery of Denver, 6-2, 1-6, 10-6. Davis was victorious over Gracia Mboko of Denver in the black bracket, 6-2, 7-6 (3). In the same draw, Lindsey Kostas of Stanford topped Somoracz, 6-1, 6-1.
In the white draw, Jana Buth handled Sonja Radosevic of Denver, 6-1, 6-3. The gold bracket saw Chloe Forlini of Air Force defeat Paola Diaz de Regules, 6-2, 6-3. In the blue bracket, Johnson downed Jeannez Daniel of UTEP, 6-2, 6-4. Also in the same draw, Andrea Duva topped Larsson, 6-1, 6-3. Isabelle Hoorn dropped her decision in the grey draw to Matilda Tench of UTEP, 6-4, 6-2.
San Diego State will get back on the courts for day two of the tournament tomorrow at Aztec Tennis Center.
