SAN DIEGO - Five San Diego State Aztec men's soccer standouts received Pac-12 all-Academic accolades, the conference recently announced. To be eligible for selection, the student-athlete must have a 3.0 overall grade point average and appear in at least 50 percent of their team's games.

Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Adam Allmaras (Carlsbad, Calif.) earned first-team honors, senior captain defender Evyn Hewett (La Palma, Calif.) and junior defender Luis Alvarado (San Diego, Calif.) were each named to the second team, while sophomore midfielders Casey Macias (Chicago, Ill.) and Alec Petit (Southlake, Texas) received honorable mention.

Allmaras, a construction engineering major with a 3.53 GPA, started all 19 contests and played every minute of each match in the net for the Aztecs this season. The redshirt freshman finished the regular season ranked second in the Pac-12 in saves (62) and was tied for third in the conference with four shutouts. In addition, his 11 saves against Florida International is the Pac-12's second-highest mark for a single match this season.

Hewett, a business management major with a 3.24 GPA, played every minute of every match while leading SDSU's defense on the back line this season. In addition, the four-year letterwinner made 58 career starts and appeared in 68-consecutive matches to close his Aztec career, and was named to the Courtyard Marriott San Diego Central Aztec Soccer Tournament all-tournament team on Sept. 7.

Alvarado is a finance major with a 3.43 GPA, and appeared in 13 contests this season with one start. He recorded an assist and eight shot attempts from the backline.

Macias is undeclared with a 3.33 GPA, and started 17 matches with one goal and 10 shot attempts. Petit is a marketing major with a 3.04 GPA, and appeared in eight contests with one start and recorded one assist.

The group led the Aztecs to seven home victories this season, which tied for the most wins at SDSU Sports Deck since 2006 (8). The Aztecs went 6-3 in non-conference play, and improved to 18-5-2 in non-conference home matches since the beginning of the 2010 season.

SDSU (7-12, 1-9 Pac-12) finished the 2014 campaign with 12 contests against teams who qualified for the 2014 NCAA Tournament, claiming three victories against those teams. The Aztecs also played five matches against teams ranked in the top 10 of the NSCAA Coaches Poll, and 13 contests against teams who were ranked at some point this season.

The Pac-12 sent five of its six teams to the 2014 NCAA Tournament, and concluded the season as the No. 1 RPI conference in Division I. The conference owned with the top winning percentage (.619), the best road winning percentage (.563) and the best strength of schedule based on opponents winning percentage (.588) in the country.
