SAN DIEGO, Calif. - San Diego State middle blocker Kaja Sandberg has earned Mountain West Women's Volleyball Player of the Week honors for matches played from November 10-16, 2014. It is the first MW weekly honor of Sandberg's career.
Sandberg, a junior from Mesa, Ariz. (Desert Ridge HS), Led San Diego State to a 2-0 record in Conference play last week with home wins against San José State (3-1) and Nevada (3-2).
Over those two matches she averaged 2.78 kills and 1.22 blocks per set while recording a .500 attack percentage. Her kill average for the week was 0.84 above her season average.
Sandberg hit .523 with a team-leading seven blocks versus the Spartans. She also posted 12 kills and one assist in the match. She then recorded a team-high 13 kills and four blocks against the Wolf Pack, while hitting .478 for the match.
San Diego State will next be in action on Wednesday (Nov. 19) when it travels to Idaho to face Boise State at 7:00 p.m. (MT) in Bronco Gym.
The Aztecs will then play their final home match of the year on Saturday, Nov. 22, when they host Utah State at 6:00 p.m. (PT) on Aztec Court in Peterson Gym.
