SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The San Diego State volleyball team will host San Jose State this evening at 6:00 p.m. on Aztec Court in Peterson Gym.
SDSU comes into the match with a record of 11-3 overall and 6-7 in the Mountain West. With only five matches left in their season, the Aztecs are looking to finish strong in what has been a rebuilding year. The 2014 squad features nine players who are either redshirt or true freshmen competing in their first season of Division I volleyball.
The team's lone senior is veteran Chaiymin Steel who is averaging 2.00 kills, 2.26 digs and 0.74 blocks per set. The Aztecs' top kills leaders are juniors Halle Aiken (2.79 per set) and Ciara Brown (2.78 per set).
San Jose State enters tonight's contest with an overall mark of 4-22. The Spartans have won just once in their last 13 matches, a four-set league victory over Fresno State two weeks ago. They are led by Tyanna Roy, who is averaging 3.13 kills per set.
Following tonight's match the Aztecs will be back in Peterson Gym on Saturday (Nov. 15) to take on Nevada at 6:00 p.m. in their penultimate home contest of the 2014 campaign.
