Volleyball Falls to No. 7 Colorado State 3-0

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - San Diego State ended its two-match Mountain West road trip with a three-set loss to seventh-ranked Colorado State in Fort Collins Saturday evening. The Rams captured the match with game scores of 25-22, 25-21, 25-16.

With the loss SDSU saw its record drop to 5-8 in all matches and 1-2 in the Mountain West. The win was the 11th straight for Colorado State, which improved to 16-1 overall and 4-0 in conference play.

Senior right side hitter Chaiymin Steel led San Diego State with a personal season-high 12 kills. She also contributed eight digs, two assists, a service ace and one block.

Steel was the lone Aztecs to end the night in double figures in kills. Junior Ciara Brown registered nine kills and a service ace while libero Alexa Saba led the Aztecs with 13 digs.

Freshman setter Courtney Eckenrode finished the contest with 33 assists and a season-best three kills and .429 hitting percentage.

Colorado State ended the match with a .373 hitting percentage while holding the Aztecs to a .207 mark. The Rams offense got stringer over the three sets as their attack percentage improved from .226 to .343 to .528 in the three contests.

San Diego State now returns home for a two-match home stand that gets underway against New Mexico on Thursday, Oct. 9, at 6:00 p.m. on Aztec Court in Peterson Gym.
