2014 MW CROSS COUNTRY WOMEN'S 6K RESULTS | PDF
FRESNO, Calif. - Elaine Ribeiro finished 39th out of 88 runners to pace the San Diego State cross country team Friday morning at the 2015 Mountain West Championships at Woodward Park in Fresno, Calif.
Ribeiro covered the 6,000-meter course in 22 minutes, 2.30 seconds to finish as the Aztecs' top runner for the fifth time in all five races she's completed.
SDSU's No. 2-5 runners were separated by just over 22 seconds, led by Lily Seynaeve in 61st in 22:36.30. Cassidy Towner was 64th (22:43.00), while Dynasty Gammage (66th, 22:45.60) and Rachel Roesgen (72nd, 22:58.60) rounded out the team's top five. Grace Hanshaw also competed for San Diego State, taking 77th in 23:33.90.
As a team, the Aztecs finished 10th overall with 276 points, well ahead of San José State's 295. New Mexico, the 10th-ranked team in the country, won its seventh consecutive MW title with 33 points, followed by No. 23 Boise State (58), Wyoming (79), Colorado State (103) and Air Force (141). Nevada came in sixth with 163 points, while Utah State (180), host Fresno State (225) and UNLV (245) finished seventh, eighth and ninth, respectively.
"Today we didn't compete as a team," head coach Shelia Burrell said. "Elaine Ribeiro continues to push the limits, but as a team we were prepared to runner better than we showed today. The team is good and we will bounce back from this."
SDSU returns to action in two weeks (Nov. 14) at the NCAA West Regional Championships at the Stanford Golf Course in Stanford, Calif., at 11 a.m. PT. San Diego State ran at the same course on Sept. 27, tying for 10th out of a competitive 21-team field.
