SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State Aztec men's soccer team will hold a free soccer clinic on for ages 7-13 on Sunday, Oct. 19, from 4:30-5:30 p.m. PT, or immediately following SDSU's match against No. 1 Washington at SDSU Sports Deck. The match is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. PT, and is also free admission.
The clinic is organized to give young players a chance to work with Aztec coaches and student-athletes on the technical and tactical applications of soccer.
Sunday's match is against the defending Pac-12-champion Huskies, who are the No. 1-ranked team in the nation by multiple polls. Each of San Diego State's remaining seven matches are against teams currently ranked in the NSCAA Coaches Poll, as SDSU is 2-1 at home this season against ranked opponents heading into Thursday night's match vs. No. 17 Oregon State.
The Pac-12 is the No. 1 RPI conference in Division I, as it has the top winning percentage (.687) and the third-ranked strength of schedule based on opponents' winning percentage (.530).
San Diego State has won six of its last seven home matches, and has already matched its 2013 win total with 10 contests remaining. The Aztecs are 6-1 this season when either ahead or tied at halftime, and are 6-0 with a seven-match winning streak overall when scoring last in a contest. In addition, SDSU is 5-2 when scoring first, and has outscored opponents 7-3 in the second half this season.
