SAN DIEGO - San Diego State men's soccer freshman forward David Olsen (Fircrest, Wash.) has been named to the Top Drawer Soccer and College Soccer News Teams of the Week, the publications recently announced.

Olsen scored the game-winning goal in each of the Aztecs' two victories over the weekend, en route to being named Most Outstanding Offensive Player of the Courtyard Marriott San Diego Central Aztec Soccer Tournament and voted Pac-12 Player of the Week. SDSU defeated No. 25 Clemson, 2-1, on Friday night, before topping No. 19 Denver, 4-3, on Sunday afternoon.

In the win over Clemson, Olsen knocked in a penalty kick in the 87th minute to put the Aztecs ahead in the match for good, while also tallying a team-high four shots. The freshman forward followed it up with a standout two-goal performance on Sunday against Denver, including the game winner off an assist from sophomore Forrayah Bass (Leeds, England) in the 63rd minute. Olsen also scored San Diego State's first goal of the match off a pass from freshman Mark Revell (San Diego, Calif.) in the 10th minute.

Olsen leads SDSU with three goals and six points, is tied for the team lead with four shots on goal and is second on the squad with seven shots attempted. His three goals are also tied for ninth in the nation, while his six points are tied for 27th. In addition, Olsen's 246 minutes played through four matches is third on the Aztecs only behind senior captain Evyn Hewett (La Palma, Calif.) and junior defender Casey Phillips (Tempe, Ariz.).

Olsen's big weekend led San Diego State to its first three-match winning streak since 2012, and lifted SDSU to consecutive victories over top-25 opponents for the first time since 2009. Ihe Aztecs are now ranked No. 27 by College Soccer news, as they improved to 6-3-1 against ranked non-conference opponents since the start of the 2009 campaign, as well as 15-5-2 in non-conference home matches since the beginning of the 2010 season.

San Diego State (3-1) returns to action at home this weekend, when the Aztecs play host to Wright State on Friday, Sept. 12, beginning at 7 p.m. PT, before taking on Pacific on Sunday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m. PT. Both matches will be played at SDSU Sports Deck and admission is free.
