SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State softball team has added Jody Williamson as a volunteer coach, head coach Kathy Van Wyk announced today. Williamson will work with the outfielders and will assist in the office for the Aztecs.
Williamson comes from the College of Sequoias, where she was an assistant coach for the past two seasons (2013-14) after coaching there from 2008-11 as well. In between, Williamson was a volunteer coach at Fresno State in 2012.
Williams was a two-year member of the College of Sequoias softball team from 2007-08, where she helped the Giants to a pair of Central Valley Conference championships. She was an honorable mention all-league selection as a shortstop in 2008 and was a member of the leadership team.
A native of Exeter, Calif., Williamson graduated Magna Cum Laude from Fresno Pacific University in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology and an emphasis in exercise science. A year later she earned a master's degree in kinesiology from FPU.
Williamson was a four-year letterwinner with the Exeter Union High School team from 2003-06, where she suffered season-ending injuries as both a sophomore and a senior. As a junior, Williamson was a first-team all-Tulare County shortstop, a first-team East Sequoia League pick and named the team's best defensive player. Additionally, Williamson captained the 2005 Central Section Valley Division 3 runner-up squad.
Williamson currently resides in Alpine, Calif.
