San Diego State-UNLV Postgame Notes
Big Notes
• Donnel Pumphrey rushed for 167 yards and four touchdowns on 22 attempts (7.6 avg.). The four rushing touchdowns are tied for the fifth most by an Aztec and most since Adam Muema had four at Wyoming on Nov. 24, 2012. It was his third 100-yard rushing game of the season (in four contests) and sixth of his career (tied for 14th all-time at SDSU). He now has nine rushing touchdowns in four games this year.
• San Diego State won by 17 points, its largest win in a Mountain West game since Nov. 10, 2012, when it beat Air Force by 19. Last year the Aztecs' largest win in a league game was seven points (three times).
Conference Openers
• San Diego State opens conference play with a victory for the second consecutive season, but for only the second time in the last seven years. Prior to last season, the last time SDSU opened league play with a win was 2007.
• San Diego State has won 14 of its last 16 (14-2) Mountain West games dating back to the 2012 campaign.
Long September
• San Diego State exits September with a 2-2 record. It marks the first time the Aztecs have exited the month with a .500 or better record since 2011 (2-3 in 2012 and 1-3 in 2013).
• SDSU now enters a month in which it has been very effective. The Aztecs have won six of their last seven games played during the month of October.
Team Notes
• The Aztecs are 10-4 in their last 14 games dating back to last season with two of those losses coming to nationally ranked opponents. During that time, the SDSU is 5-1 at home.
• SDSU scored 21 points in the second quarter, its most since putting up 21 vs. Buffalo in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl a season ago.
• San Diego State held its opponent without a touchdown on its second-half opening drive for 22nd time in its last 24 games. The Aztecs have allowed just 26 points over the past 24 second-half opening drives.
• SDSU had two interceptions for the first time since Nov. 23, 2013 at Boise State.
• San Diego State had its first game with no turnovers since Nov. 2, 2013 vs. New Mexico.
• The Aztecs had their most sacks in a game (6) since recording six at Wyoming on Nov. 24, 2012.
• SDSU had its 10th straight win when rushing for 200 or more yards.
• San Diego State was 5-for-5 in the red zone.
Trends
• SDSU had gone four straight games without allowing a point on its opponent's opening drive until tonight.
• San Diego State started with the ball for the 30th time in the last 32 games.
• SDSU has now gone 94 games without suffering a shutout (Nov. 18, 2006, at TCU), which is the third-longest streak among current Mountain West schools (Air Force at 262 and Boise State at 215). That is the only time San Diego State has been shut out in its last 188 games.
• The Aztecs improved to 2-1 on the season and 15-3 in the Rocky Long era when leading at the half.
• SDSU improved to 2-1 on the year and 20-4 in the Rocky Long era when leading after three quarters.
The Series
• San Diego State leads the all-time series against UNLV, 15-9.
• The Aztecs have won the last seven encounters between the teams in San Diego. The Rebels last victory in San Diego came on Nov. 25, 2000. All seven of those victories have come by double digits.
• San Diego State has now gone 13 consecutive games in the series without losing two straight games to UNLV. During that stretch, the Aztecs have posted a 10-3 record.

• SDSU improved to 5-1 when he rushes for at least 100 yards and 7-3 when he scores at least one rushing touchdown.

• Finished the game with 209 passing yards, going 16-for-27 with no touchdowns and two interceptions.
• Improved to to 10-5 as the team's starting quarterback.
• Threw for 200-plus yards for the 15th time in the past 16 games.

• Had four receptions for 71 yards (17.8 avg.) in his first career start.
• The four receptions and 71 yards were both career highs.
* Josh Gavert, Sr., LB (11 tackles (8 solo))
• Tied a career high with 11 tackles (11 at Hawai'i on Nov. 16, 2013) in his first start of the season.
• Led the team in tackles for the fifth time of his career.
* Alex Barrett, So., DT (3 tackles (3 solo), 2 sacks, 2 TFL)
• Finished with three tackles, two sacks and two tackles for loss.
• Tied a career high with 2.0 sacks (also Oct. 10, 2013 at Air Force), becoming the first Aztec with multiple sacks in a game since Nick Tenhaeff had two vs. Boise State on Nov. 23, 2013.
• Had two tackles for loss after recording 3.5 all of last season.
Other Notes
• Cody Galea started for the 26th consecutive game, which leads all Aztecs (doesn't include specialists).
• Josh Gavert played in his 43rd straight game, which is the most of any current SDSU player.
• Billy Vaughn, Jr., recorded his first career interception... Also had three pass breakups to set a personal best. The PBUs were the first of his career.
• Alex Barrett recorded his first sack of the season and fourth of his career.
• Dakota Turner and Trey Lomax joined Calvin Munson has players making their first career sack.
• Cody Galea had his second sack of the year and now has 6.5 for his career.
• Daniel Brunskill and Mikah Holder each had their first career reception.
• Brandon Porter made a career-high six tackles.
• Damontae Kazee had three pass breakups to establish a career high.
• Christian Heyward recorded his first career tackle as an Aztec. Heyward played the 2012 season at USC.
• Larry Clark (WR) and Jemond Hazely (WR) each earned their first career start tonight.
• Mikah Holder (WR) played in his first career game tonight.
