SACRAMENTO, Calif. -
San Diego State's Allison Reaser is in ninth-place after the first day of the heptathlon at the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships Friday in Sacramento, Calif.
Reaser totaled 3,439 points over the four events (of seven) on the first day. The 3,439 is 51 points ahead of her day one total at this month's NCAA Championships, where she went onto finish second with a school-record and Mountain West-record 5,836 points. Six athletes are within 100 points of Reaser, from Sami Spenner (Nebraska-Omaha) in sixth (3,520) to Ryan Krais (Nike) in 12th (3,409). Sharon Day-Monroe (Asics) leads the way with 3,925 points.
Reaser began the day by taking fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.49 seconds. Next up was the high jump, where she was 13th with a height of 5 feet, 3 inches (1.60 meters).
Reaser then took ninth in the shot put with a heave of 39-02.25 (11.94m), before ending her day in style with a third-place finish in the 200 in a wind-aided 23.86.
The second day of the heptathlon begins at 10:30 a.m. PT Saturday with the long jump, followed by the javelin throw (11:40 a.m. PT) and the 800 (2:25 p.m. PT).
