EUGENE, Ore. -
San Diego State finished in a tie for 12th-place at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Ore.
The Aztecs, who did not have any competitors Saturday in the final day of the four-day event, totaled 18 points to tie Penn State for 12th. It was SDSU's third consecutive top-25 team finish. Texas A&M won thetitle with 75 points, while Texas (66), Oregon (59), Florida (55) and Georgia (35) rounded out the top five.
San Diego State was once again led by Shanieka Thomas, who won the triple jump on Friday for the third NCAA championship meet in a row (also 2014 indoor, 2013 outdoor) with a leap of 45 feet, 11 ¼ inches (14.00 meters). She became the seventh individual national champion in program history and fourth in the past five NCAA championship meets (including indoor meets).
Allison Reaser also scored for the Aztecs, taking second in the heptathlon with a school- and Mountain West-record 5,836 points. The heptathlon took place on Thursday and Friday.
Kristen Brown (pole vault), Jasmine Burrell (discus throw) and Nicole Oudenaarden (heptathlon) also competed for SDSU.
