FRESNO, Calif. - San Diego State and Fresno State will play the rubber game of their three-game series this afternoon at 2:05 p.m. at Beiden Field in Fresno.
The contest has conference tournament seeding implications for the Aztecs as they need a win or a Nevada loss at UNLV Saturday afternoon to secure an outright third-place finish and claim the No. 3 seed for the Mountain West tournament next week. An SDSU loss and Nevada win would see the teams tied for third in the final standings with the Wolf Pack holding the tiebreaker for seeding purposes.
Fresno State will finish in fifth place no matter the outcome of Saturday's game and will be the No. 5 seed next week.
For Saturday's contest the Aztecs will send junior left-hander Mike Robards (5-4, (5-4,2) to the mound. Fresno State has not announced a starting pitcher for the series finale.
