MW CHAMPIONSHIPS HEPTATHLON RESULTS | HIGHLIGHTS

Nicole Oudenaarden won the heptathlon to lead the 18th-ranked San Diego State track and field team Thursday at the Mountain West Outdoor Championships in Laramie, Wyo.

Oudenaarden completed the two-day event with a stadium-record 5,697 points for her first-ever MW title. Teammate Allison Reaser, who won the three previous heptathlon's at the championship meet, was second in 5,530, while Karsen Sper also scored in eighth (4,595).

After the one event, the Aztecs lead the meet with 19 points. SDSU is followed by New Mexico (8), Wyoming (6), Colorado State (4) and UNLV (2), with the other six teams yet to score a point.

On the final day of competition, Oudenaarden won the long jump with a leap of 19 feet, 6 ¾ inches (5.96 meters) and followed with another victory in the javelin throw with a heave of 145-11 (44.47m). She ended the day with a third-place effort in the 800 meters with a time of 2 minutes, 24.16 seconds. Altogether, Oudenaarden won four of the seven events, including all four field events, also taking first in the high jump and shot put on Wednesday.

Reaser, who won the 100-meter hurdles and 200 yesterday, was second in the long jump (19-04.25 (5.90m)), fourth in the javelin (120-01 (36.60m)) and second in the 800 (2:23.12).

Sper, meanwhile, came in fifth in the long jump (wind-aided 17-09.00 (5.41m)), 10th in the javelin (88-05 (26.94m)) and eighth in the 800 (2:29.41).

The hammer throw is the first event on Friday (11 a.m. MT) for San Diego State with the 10K ending the day at 5:35 p.m. MT.
