MW CHAMPIONSHIPS DAY ONE RESULTS | HIGHLIGHTS
LARAMIE, Wyo. - San Diego State track and field's Nicole Oudenaarden and Allison Reaser are 1-2 in the heptathlon after the first day of the Mountain West Championships Wednesday in Laramie, Wyo.
With four of the seven events complete, Oudenaarden leads the way with 3,339 points. Reaser, who has won this event three straight years at the championship meet, is a close second at 3,327. Wyoming's Jenna Munn (3,201) and New Mexico's Samantha Bowe (3,102) are the only two other competitors with at least 3,000 points. The Aztecs' Karsen Sper is seventh with 2,802.
Oudenaarden won both the high jump (5 feet, 7 inches (1.70 meters)) and the shot put (41-07.25 (12.68m)), and was third in the 200 meters (25.06 meters) and sixth in the 100 hurdles (14.59).
Reaser, meanwhile, won both the 100 hurdles (13.41) and 200 (24.32), while taking third in the shot put (36-05.50 (11.11m)) and tying for fourth in the high jump (5-02.25 (1.58m)).
Sper came in fifth in the 100 hurdles (14.50), seventh in the 200 (26.17), tied for eighth in the high jump (4-11.75 (1.52m)) and was ninth in the shot put (29-08.25 (9.05m)).
Day two of the heptathlon gets underway at 12:30 p.m. MT Thursday with the long jump, followed by the javelin throw and the 200 meters.
