COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State sophomore Danielle O'Toole (Upland, Calif.) has been named the Mountain West Pitcher of the Week, the league announced today. It is the fifth weekly honor of the season for O'Toole and the sixth weekly accolade of her career. Nobody else in the league has more than one pitcher-of-the-week-award this year.

O'Toole helped the Aztecs (39-17, 16-8 MW) sweep then co-leading Boise State, which came into the weekend with an eight-game winning streak, and give SDSU its third straight MW title. The left-hander pitched all 22 innings over the series sweep, going 3-0 with two shutouts and a 0.32 ERA. O'Toole allowed just 11 hits (10 singles) and two walks, limiting the Broncos to a .143 batting average, while striking out 11. The three wins gave her 30 for the season, which ties a single-season school record.

In San Diego State's 4-0 win on Friday, O'Toole allowed just two infield singles and a walk over seven scoreless innings, while striking out four.

On Saturday in the Aztecs' 1-0 victory in eight innings, she tossed her second straight shutout, yielding four hits and a walk over eight scoreless innings, while striking out two. At one point in the game, O'Toole retired 17 consecutive batters.

In SDSU's 5-1 win on Sunday, she allowed one run on five hits over seven innings, striking out five without yielding a walk. The lone run, which came with two outs in the fourth inning, snapped O'Toole's career-long scoreless streak at 22 2/3 innings.

On the season, O'Toole is 30-8 with a 1.66 ERA and a save over 240 innings. She has started 33 of the team's 56 games, completing 25 of them with 10 total shutouts (seven solo, three combined). O'Toole, who has pitched in 45 of the team's 56 games, has 184 strikeouts against just 39 walks, holding the opposition to a .229 average.

O'Toole's 30 wins are tied for third in the country. She's also 18th in walks allowed per seven innings (1.14) and 36th in ERA (1.66).

Among the league leaders, O'Toole is first in ERA (1.66), wins (30), winning percentage (.789) and appearances (45), second in opposing batting average (.229), innings pitched (240.0), strikeouts (184) and games started (33).

Playing in its seventh consecutive NCAA tournament, San Diego State will meet No. 10/11 Michigan (42-12) at 12:30 p.m. PT in Tempe, Ariz., on the campus of No. 3/3 Arizona State (44-10-1), the tournament's No. 9 overall seed. Dartmouth (31-17) is the other team in the double-elimination regional. The entire NCAA Tempe Regional will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
