SAN DIEGO -

SDSU 10, NEVADA 1 (5 INN.) | VIDEO REPLAY

The San Diego State softball team run-ruled Nevada, 10-1, in five innings Saturday afternoon at SDSU Softball Stadium. The Aztecs, who are receiving votes in the latest ESPN.com/USA Softball poll, improved to 27-9 on the season and 4-1 in Mountain West play.

SDSU outhit the Wolf Pack (21-15, 3-5 MW), 12-5, in the game and took advantage of three Nevada errors.

Like last night, San Diego State scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Unlike last night, where the Aztecs didn't score again in a 4-0 victory, SDSU added one run each in the second and third, and tacked on another four-run inning in the fourth to seal its third run-rule win of the season.

Junior Hayley Miles (Antelope, Calif.) led the way for San Diego State with two hits, including a two-run double, and two runs. Senior Patrice Jackson (Kansas City, Mo.) also had two hits with a double, and also scored a run and reached another time with a walk.

Senior Dominique Dinner (Monterey, Calif.) and sophomore Leia Ruiz (Chino, Calif.) both had two hits, an RBI and a run scored, while senior Katie Mathis (Grass Valley, Calif.), junior Kayla Jordan (San Diego/Bonita Vista HS) and sophomore Kayla Bufardeci (Castro Valley, Calif.) added a single, RBI and a run.

Sydnee Cable (Huntington Beach, Calif.), who came into the weekend with the best on-base percentage in the country among freshmen, reached all three plate appearances with a single and two walks, and also scored a run.

The early offense was plenty for freshman Erica Romero (Corona, Calif.). The right-hander allowed just one run on five hits and a walk over the five-inning complete game victory. Romero (5-3) tied her career high with seven strikeouts in just five innings. Nevada came into the weekend leading the Mountain West in 10 offensive categories, including batting average (.320), slugging percentage (.491), on-base percentage (.424), runs (229), RBIs (207), doubles (61), triples (10), total bases (430) and walks (146).

The Aztecs wraps up their weekend series with the Wolf Pack at 1 p.m. PT Sunday at SDSU Softball Stadium.
