The San Diego State women's tennis team opened the weekend with a decisive 6-1 victory over Mountain West foe Nevada on Friday. With the victory the Aztecs improve their overall record to 8-10 and move up to 2-1 in conference play.

Competition got underway with doubles play as Kristin Buth and Kennedy Davis put SDSU on the board with an 8-3 defeat of Juliette Legendre and Sheila Smiley in second doubles. On the first court, Michelle Okhremchuk and Sheila Morales Hidalgo evened out the standings by topping Dora Somoracz and Hailey Johnson, 8-2. Laura Antonaña Iriarte and Isabelle Hoorn clinched the point for the Aztecs as the duo finished off Monika Magusiak and Caroline Konigsfeldt, 8-3.

In singles action, Hoorn notched her second win of the day as she downed Magusiak, 6-1, 6-0, in sixth singles. Tami Nguyen gave San Diego State its third point by dismissing Smiley in the third spot, 6-2, 6-3. In fifth singles, Legendre recorded the Wolf Pack's only point on the day as she got past Somoracz, 6-4, 6-3. Senior and 35th-ranked Antonaña Iriarte claimed the win for SDSU by defeating Okhremchuk in the first slot, 7-6 (1), 6-2. Buth battled Morales Hildago on court No. 2 and walked away with the decision, 6-1, 2-6, 10-4. Fourth singles was the last to finish on the day as Davis downed Konigsfeldt, 6-1, 7-5.

San Diego State will continue its league slate on Sunday as it faces San Jose State at Aztec Tennis Center. First serve is set for noon.
