SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's tennis team will be represented in the postseason by its lone senior, Laura Antonaña Iriarte. The San Sebastian, Spain native was selected as one of 64 individual players for the NCAA Tournament to be held in Athens, Ga., May 15-26.
Antonaña Iriarte broke a school record this season by being selected as the Mountain West women's tennis Player of the Week on five occasions, more than any other Aztec in San Diego State history. In addition, the senior was named the conference's Player of the Year, the first for an SDSU women's tennis player since 2003. For her efforts Antonaña Iriarte has maintained a top-50 national ranking for 11-consecutive weeks, currently standing at No. 43.
The third-seeded Aztecs finished their season in the semifinals of the league championships in Fresno, Calif. SDSU fell 4-2 to second-seeded New Mexico.
