The San Diego State women's tennis team concluded its regular season by taking a 5-2 decision over UNLV on Saturday. The Aztecs traveled to Sin City for their final match of 2014 and finished the season with an 11-12 overall mark and a 4-1 Mountain West record.
In doubles action Tami Nguyen and Isabelle Hoorn put SDSU on the board as the duo downed Kamelia Dimitrova and Alexis Garrett in the third spot, 8-3. In second doubles, Laura Antonaña Iriarte and Kristin Buth clinched the point for San Diego State as they finished off Aleksandra Josifoska and Iren Kotseva, 8-5. First doubles saw Lucia Batta and Santa Shumilina get past Hailey Johnson and Dora Somoracz, 8-4.
In singles play, Paola Artiga evened out the score as she defeated Isabelle Hoorn in the sixth position, 6-0, 6-0. In second singles, Josifoska gave the Rebels a lead as she topped Buth, 6-2, 6-0. On court No. 5, Somoracz knotted up the score once again as she dismissed Dimitrova, 6-3, 6-3. In first singles, No. 49 Antonaña Iriarte handled 68th-ranked Batta, 6-3, 6-3. The match was clinched for SDSU as Nguyen finished off Kotseva in the third spot, 7-5, 7-5. Court No. 4 saw Kennedy Davis post San Diego State's final point as she defeated Shumilina, 2-6, 6-0, 7-5.
The Aztecs will get back on the courts as they travel to Fresno, Calif., to compete in the Mountain West Championships on April 24-27.
