Sophomore Kayla Bufardeci (Castro Valley, Calif.) and senior Patrice Jackson (Kansas City, Mo.) combined for nine RBIs as San Diego State beat North Dakota, 13-7, at the Shocker Softball Classic Sunday in Wichita, Kan. It was the fifth straight victory for the Aztecs, who at 16-7 are off to their best start since 2008 (17-6).

SDSU posted season highs in runs (13), hits (15), RBIs (12), doubles (3, tied), total bases (21, tied) and walks (7, tied) in the game.

Bufardeci drove in five runs on a pair of doubles, while Jackson was a perfect 4-for-4 with a homer, double, four RBIs, three runs and a hit by pitch. She now has 10 home runs this year in just 59 at-bats over 23 games.

Three others added two hits apiece for the Aztecs, including freshman Sydnee Cable (Huntington Beach, Calif.), who reached on four of her five plate appearances with a pair of singles, two walks, two runs and an RBI. Jordan was 2-for-2 with three runs, two walks and two stolen bases, while senior Dominique Dinner (Monterey, Calif.) was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a walk.

Junior Hayley Miles (Antelope, Calif.) singled, scored and drove in a run on sacrifice fly and freshman Frankie Orlando (Roseville, Calif.) reached safely twice with a single and walk.

Freshman Erica Romero (Corona, Calif.) earned the win for SDSU after allowing just one run on two hits and a walk over 4 1/3 innings of relief. The right-hander struck out six to improve to 2-3 on the season. Classmate Andi Smith (Orangeville, Utah) started for San Diego State and yielded six runs (one earned) on three hits and four walks over 2 2/3 innings. She also had six strikeouts.

The Aztecs begin a seven-game homestand Friday with games against UT Arlington (3:30 p.m. PT) and Long Beach State (6 p.m. PT).
