TARZANA, Calif. - The San Diego State women's golf team sits in 13th place after posting a combined 46-over 622 on Monday during the first two rounds of the fifth annual Bruin Wave Invitational at El Caballero Country Club.

The Aztecs shaved six strokes off their opening-round 314, posting a 308 during the afternoon to finish the day three shots in back of 10th-place Long Beach State (+43) and just one stroke behind Washington State (+44) and Mountain West foe UNLV (+44), both of whom landed in the 11th position after 36 holes on the 6,173-yard, par-72 course layout.

Emma Henrikson (Malmö, Sweden) and Sirene Blair (South Jordan, Utah) recorded SDSU's low individual score on Monday after each carded a 74 during the second round.

Despite posting four birdies in the afternoon, Henrikson was unable to overcome the sting of two double-bogeys and pair of bogeys and finished the day in a tie for 21st at 6-over 150. The Aztec sophomore opened with a 76, highlighted a birdie on her sixth hole of the round, the par-4 18th, but it wasn't enough to offset three bogeys and a double-bogey at No. 14.

Blair was also endured a difficult morning, posting two double-bogeys and four bogeys to go with one birdie en route to uncharacteristic 79. The Aztec freshman began her second round in dubious fashion as well, making another double-bogey on her first hole, the par-5, No. 12, before regrouping with two birdies after the turn. Despite a bogey on her final putt of the day on the par-4 11th, Blair climbed 20 spots into a tie for 31st during the afternoon, finishing at 9-over 153.

In her second consecutive start for the Scarlet and Black, fellow classmate Maria Fernanda Villegas (Ensenada, Mexico) finds herself in a tie for 55th after shooting combined 15-over 159. The SDSU freshman followed an 81 with a second-round 78, featuring a birdie on the par-3, 153-yard No. 16, which played as the seventh-toughest hole during the afternoon on Monday.

Meanwhile Paige Spiranac (Scottsdale, Ariz.) sits one shot in back of Villegas in a tie for 61st at 16-over 160. The Aztec junior began the day in style with a birdie on her very first hole, the par-4 13th, but could only duplicate the feat once more during her round at No. 9, before settling for a 78. Spiranac was unable to generate momentum in the afternoon as six bogeys and a double-bogey led to a disappointing 82.

SDSU was also represented by senior Maureen Dunnagan (Lexington, S.C.), who shot a 174 to wind up in 86th.

USC (-3) was the lone school to finish in red figures on Monday, landing in the top spot above tournament co-hosts UCLA (+2) and Pepperdine (+5), while Oklahoma State (+15) and Arizona (+18) round out the top five.

Individually, the Women of Troy's Doris Chen carded a 5-under 139 to grab a one-shot lead over teammate Kyung Kim, Allison Lee of UCLA and Oklahoma State's Julie Yang, all of whom registered a 140 to end the day tied for second.

The Aztecs wrap up competition at the Bruin Wave Invitational with the final round on Tuesday when they tee off with UNC Wilmington and Cal State Northridge on the 10th hole, starting at 8:20 a.m. PT.
