M. Tennis Competes in Pacific Coast Doubles

LA JOLLA, Calif. - The San Diego State men's tennis team competed in this weekend's 125th Pacific Coast Doubles Championship at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club, in La Jolla, Calif.

San Diego State's No. 3 doubles team of senior Juan Florez (Bogota, Colombia) and freshman Milen Ianakiev (Elz, Germany) won their Round of 64 match, 9-8, before falling in the round of 32, 8-4. In addition, Aztecs head coach Gene Carswell and assistant coach Jeff Thomsen earned a win in their Round of 64 match, 8-5, but dropped its Round of 32 match, 8-5.

Sophomore Freddy Gelbrich (Isernhagen, Germany) and freshman Hendrik Jebens (Stuttgart, Germany) lost its opening match in the Round of 128, 8-1, while the team of Aztec former players Derek Siddiqui and Shiva Sangwan lost its Round of 128 match, 8-6.

No. 64 San Diego State (6-4, 3-0 MW) resumes dual-match play on Thursday, when it plays host to Rice beginning at 2 p.m. PT at Aztec Tennis Center.
