HARRISONBURG, Va. - The San Diego State women's lacrosse team couldn't regain its winning ways on Saturday afternoon, falling to No. rv/rv James Madison, 20-7, in a game stopped twice due to weather.

SDSU (6-4, 3-1 MPSF) started strong, quickly taking a 2-1 lead on Catherine Shepardson's unassisted goal, followed by junior Lauren Maack's score of an assist from junior Michaela Jarvis. But the Dukes stormed back with an 8-0 scoring run to go ahead, 9-2, before the Aztecs responded with goals from sophomore Alexa Comfort, junior Christina Ricciardulli and Jarvis to pull within 10-5 at halftime.

James Madison sophomore Jaci Gordon started the second half with a free-position goal, and JMU went on to score the next six points to make it 17-5. Comfort and Jarvis each added a goal apiece later in the second half.

For Comfort, it was her first two goals of the season and 14th of her career, while Maack recorded a goal, three draw controls and two groundballs. Junior Michaela Jarvis had a goal and an assist, as Ricciardulli racked up a goal, three draws, a caused turnover and a groundball.

Defensively, junior Lauren Paul had a team-best two caused turnovers and freshman goalkeeper Katrina Reeves tallied five saves. The Aztecs held their own in draws (13-15) and groundballs (11-12), and will need another solid performance in those categories when their road trip continues at No. rv/19 Navy on Wednesday beginning at 3 p.m. ET.

"Both teams were very competitive," head coach Kylee White said. "This is very good competition to go up against, and we need it to get our program better and our team better. We're excited about facing these teams, we just need to play a little bit more to our ability and trust our skills."
