USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Shanieka Thomas and Kristen Brown each won an individual title for the San Diego State track and field team on the final day of the Mountain West Indoor Championships Saturday at USAF Academy, Colo.

The Aztecs, who won the meet last year, finished third out of 11 teams over the three-day competition with 75 points, trailing only New Mexico (148.50) and Wyoming (84). Colorado State (67) was fourth followed by Boise State (65), Utah State (58), Fresno State (50), UNLV (46), Air Force (37.50), Nevada (32) and San Jose State (0).

Thomas claimed her third consecutive indoor triple jump title (2012-14) and fifth straight triple jump championship (also 2012-13 outdoor) overall with a leap of 44 feet, 5 ¼ inches (13.54 meters). Thomas, the defending NCAA outdoor triple jump champion, a runner-up at the 2013 NCAA indoor championships and one of 10 on the preseason watch list for The Bowerman Trophy (top collegian), beat out 20 other entrants in the event.

Brown, meanwhile, won her second straight 60-meter hurdles title with a time of 8.31 seconds. The 8.31 was tied for the second-fastest time in MW Championships history (finals only). Yesterday, Brown clocked an 8.28 in the prelims, which tied her personal best and was the second-fastest time in program history.

SDSU also scored in five more individual events on the track, including Allison Reaser in the 60 hurdles (fourth, 8.54) and 200 (eighth, 24.80), Meritzer Williams in the 60 (sixth, 7.54) and 200 (seventh, 24.71) and Madison Gipson in the 60 hurdles (seventh, 8.66).

San Diego State had two scorers in the shot put, led by Jasmine Burrell's fifth-place showing with a throw of 50-02.00 (15.29m). Brittany Gonter, meanwhile, came in seventh at 48-10.00 (14.88m), which was the third-best throw in school history.

The 4x400-yard relay of Oudenaarden, Karsen Sper, Madison Gipson and Maderia Toatley closed out the competition and the Aztecs came in sixth in 3:50.63.

SDSU will await a list of qualifiers for the NCAA Indoor Championships, which will be announced on Tuesday (March 4) by 7 p.m. PT on NCAA.org. The NCAA Championships take place on March 14-15 in Albuquerque, N.M.
