Aztecs' Donnel Pumphrey Earns All-Freshman Honors

SAN DIEGO - San Diego State running back Donnel Pumphrey (Las Vegas, Nev.) was named a CollegeFootballNews.com all-Freshman Team honorable mention, the publication recently announced.

Pumphrey rushed for 750 yards and eight touchdowns with a 6.1 yards-per-carry average this season. The freshman also recorded 22 receptions for 234 yards with two scores, and is one of only five Mountain West offensive players to earn the honor.

The Las Vegas, Nev., native rushed for over 100 yards in three consecutive SDSU victories, including a 171-yard and three touchdown performance against New Mexico State on Sept. 28. He also rushed for 113 yards and a score against Nevada on Oct. 4, and gained 122 yards on the ground with both a rushing and receiving touchdown in a road victory over Air Force on Oct. 10.

In addition, Pumphrey scored a rushing touchdown in three of the Aztecs' final four games, and concluded the regular season with 87 yards rushing and a touchdown against UNLV on Nov. 30. He was also named an all-Freshman offensive honorable mention by Campus Insiders on Dec. 12.
