SAN DIEGO - San Diego State women's tennis head coach Peter Mattera announced the signing of Jana Buth (Kaiserslautern, Germany/Heinrich-Heine-Gymnasium) to a National Letter of Intent on Tuesday. Buth will join the Aztecs' tennis program in the fall of 2014.

"Jana is just a fantastic young lady in addition to being a tremendous tennis player," said Mattera. "She has had a significant amount of experience in both very high level competition and competing in a team environment. She will make an immediate and positive impact in our program. The fact that she is also the sister of one of our current players, junior Kristin Buth, is an added bonus. I am looking forward to having them both represent the Aztecs in the 2014-15 campaign."

Buth boasts an impressive record in Germany as one of the top junior players in the country. In 2006, Buth won the German Championship in her age division, was the champion of the Junior Regional Championships in both 2005 and 2009 and was the Women's Regional Indoor Champion in 2013.

The Kaiserslautern, Germany, native is currently in her final year of studies at Heinrich-Heine-Gymnasium and will begin her collegiate career on The Mesa in the fall of 2014.

The Aztecs are coming off of a successful fall season and will resume play on Jan. 18, when they begin the dual-match schedule. SDSU will play host to UC Riverside and Cal State Fullerton in a doubleheader to kick off the spring slate at Aztec Tennis Center.
