SAN DIEGO, Calif. - For the Black team in the annual Aztec Baseball World Series, it was more than about just winning two of three games in the competition. That's because members of the losing Red team -- in addition to getting an earful from the winners for the next couple of months -- have to trade bats, balls and gloves for sponges, buckets and hoses.
As a result of dropping the Series, members of Red team will be out in force this Saturday, Nov. 23, to provide free car washes to the general public. The car wash will take place at Tony Gwynn Stadium from 9:00 a.m. until noon and everyone is encouraged to stop for a free auto cleaning.
The Third Annual Baseball Car Wash is a way for the Aztecs program to say thanks to everybody for their support of SDSU baseball.
With fall practice coming to a close, the focus will now shift to individual workouts until late January. The team will reconvene at that time to begin spring practice in preparation for the 2014 season.
The Aztecs will open the new season with a three-game series against Mountain West foe San Jose State at Municipal Stadium in San Jose that begins on February 14 at 6 p.m. SDSU's home opener is scheduled for Tuesday, February 18, at 6:00 p.m. against Loyola Marymount.
