San Diego State-New Mexico Final Box

San Diego State, the back-to-back regular-season Mountain West champions, ended its regular-season slate with a 1-0 double-overtime win at New Mexico. With the decision, the Aztecs improve to 11-6-2 overall and 9-1 in league play. The Lobos, meanwhile, fall to 8-10-2 (6-3-1 MW).

SDSU picked up its fifth straight win and ninth victory in 10 MW outings when Haley Locker scored in the 103rd minute. Haley Palmer threw the ball into Kelsey Booth who played the ball near the end line. The junior then split two Lobos and played a ball 10 yards back into the box where Locker was waiting and ultimately put her shot past UNM goalkeeper Cassie Ulrich. The goal was Locker's second of the year and the assist was Booth's fourth of the season.

In the process of winning its 32nd game in the last two seasons, San Diego State snapped New Mexico's lengthy Mountain West home unbeaten streak (regular season and tournament). Coming into the game, the Lobos were 17-0-1 in their last 18 against conference foes, winning 11 straight. New Mexico's last home loss to a league opponent occurred on Oct. 8, 2009 or 1,485 days ago.

The Aztecs, who already secured the No. 1 seed in next week's Mountain West Championship in Albuquerque, will wait to see who they will face on Thursday, Nov. 7, in the semifinal round. SDSU, the defending tournament champions, and its to-be-determined opponent will face off at 4 p.m. MT on the Mountain West Network.
