BOISE, Idaho - The San Diego State volleyball team put an end to a short three-match losing streak in style as it defeated Boise State in three sets (25-12, 25-23, 25-18) Saturday night at Bronco Gym in Boise, Idaho. With the win the Aztecs evened their overall record at 10-10 and also pulled to .500 in Mountain West play at 5-5.

Summer Nash led SDSU with 12 kills as she turned in a career-high .706 hitting percentage with no errors on 17 attacks. The senior also contributed a pair of blocks and two digs.

Raegan Shelton was the only other player on either side to reach double figures in kills as she finished with 10 while matching Nash's block and dig totals. Chaiymin Steel chipped in with six kills and four blocks with teammate Emily Harris' six blocks leading all players in the match.

Aztec libero Courtney Vaccarello turned in a match-high 14 digs while setter Johnna Fouch had 20 assists.

San Diego State led in every offensive category while compiling a .222 team hitting percentage. Meanwhile, the Broncos (10-11, 4-7 MW) could muster only a .030 attack percentage for the match.

The Aztecs took control from the outset as they hit .500 in the opening set while holding Boise State to a .000 mark. After losing the first point, SDSU scored five straight and steadily increased its advantage over the course of the contest eventually securing a 13-point margin of victory. Nash, Harris and Steel tallied three kills apiece to lead the Aztec effort.

The second set saw SDSU down early, but able to rally to take a 14-8 lead. But the Broncos scored the next 8 points to go up 16-14. That lead was short-lived, however, as the Aztecs knotted the score at 18-18. They went on to take the lead at 23-21 and the teams alternated the final four points with kills by Nash and Steel accounting for SDSU's final two points in the win.

The third set was an even contest in the early going, but with the score tied at 10-10 the Aztecs ran off three consecutive points to take the lead for good. Boise State was within two at 19-17 before SDSU rattled off six of the final seven points to secure the set and match victories. Nash along with freshman Baylee Little had four kills each in the set and Fouch finished off the match with a service ace.

San Diego State now returns home to host Air Force on Thursday, Oct. 31, at 7:00 p.m. on Aztec Court in Peterson Gym.
