SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State men's soccer team played even in the first half, but lost a tough match to No. 3 Washington, 2-0, on Friday night at SDSU Sports Deck.

The Aztecs went into intermission with the score tied, 0-0, before Washington scored early in the second half to take a one-goal lead, and added another score later in the second half. In SDSU's six matches against ranked teams this season, the Aztecs have either been ahead or tied at halftime in five of those contests.

Seniors Jordan Ongaro and Kody Duff led San Diego State (4-8-1, 1-4-1 Pac-12) with two shots apiece, while goalkeepers Blake Hylen and John Marcuzzo each recorded one save. The Aztecs put on pressure throughout the night, as they had a 9-4 advantage in corner kicks.

SDSU had a few scoring opportunities in the first half, as senior Blake Wise's shot in the 24th minute sailed high and a shot from Ongaro in the 25th minute hit the right post. Duff got off a good shot attempt in the 37th minute, but Washington goalkeeper Ryan Herman was there to make his only save of the night.

Washington broke the scoreless tie in the 49th minute, as Cristian Roldan knocked in a header from six yards out off a throw in from Michael Harris. The Huskies added a second score moments after Hylen was issued a red card in the 73rd minute, as Darwin Jones' free kick got past sophomore goalkeeper John Marcuzzo to make it 2-0.

The Aztecs return to action on Sunday when they play host to Oregon State, beginning at noon PT at SDSU Sports Deck.

Man of the Match: Senior midfielder Casey Meuser (Granite Bay, Calif.) was named Man of the Match for the Aztecs after playing 80 minutes and recording a shot on Friday night.
