Aztec Cross Country Heads to Titan Invitational

The San Diego State cross country team heads to Fullerton, Calif., for the Titan Invitational on Friday afternoon. The women's 5K race will take place on the Cal State Fullerton's campus at 4:45 p.m. PT.

The meet will be the Aztecs' final tune-up for the Mountain West Championships, which is set for Nov. 1 at Air Force in USAFA, Colo.

Scheduled to compete with the Aztecs and host Titans at Friday's meet include student-athletes from Azusa Pacific, Orange Coast College, Pepperdine, UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara, UCLA, San Diego and UNLV, along with numerous club teams and unattached runners.

SDSU is coming off a fourth-place finish at the Highlander Invitational in Riverside, Calif., on Saturday (Oct. 19). Chelsea Kruthers led San Diego State for the second straight race, completed the 5K race in 17 minutes, 55.8 seconds. It was her second top-five overall finish on the season and third time in the top 16.

Rachel Roesgen was the nest Aztec finisher in 14th in 18:05.3, while Jessica Cygan (22nd, 18:20.8), Dynasty Gammage (24th, 18:25.5), Katy Smith (26th, 18:27.3 PR), Elaine Ribeiro (31st, 18:34.7 PR) and Cali King (79th, 20:33.2 PR) also ran for SDSU.

Scheduled to run for SDSU on Friday include Cygan, Gammage, King, Kruthers, Ribeiro, Roesgen, Smith and Melissa Wendorf.

Cal State Fullerton's course loops around the grass recreation field and concrete and asphalt pathways around the Sports Complex. The course surface is approximately 30 percent grass and 70 percent concrete and asphalt. To reach the course, take exit 57 and go west. After passing the signal at Associate Rd., turn left into Parking Lot A and park at the south end of Lot A across from the track. The pathway between Titan Stadium and the track will take you to the recreation field.

A daily parking permit can be purchased from the yellow machine at the entrance to Lot A.
