Singles Main and Back Draw | Lucky Loser Results | Main Draw Doubles
The Aztec women's tennis team completed day three at the ITA West Regional held at Aztec Tennis Center on Saturday. Two SDSU players saw action in the quarterfinal but were unable to advance further.
San Diego State's farthest advancing player was senior Laura Antonana Iriarte. Antonana Iriarte faced Lorraine Guillermo of Pepperdine in the main singles quarterfinal on Saturday. The San Sebastian, Spain, native could not duplicate her success from the first two days of competition as she fell, 6-4, 6-0.
Sophomore Dora Somoracz found victory in the singles consolation fourth round as she defeated Marta Stojanovic of San Diego as Stojanovic was forced to withdraw due to injury. The Aztec moved onto the consolation quarterfinal where she faced Jessica Perez of Loyola Marymount. Somoracz was unable to move on as she dropped her match, 6-2, 6-1.
In the round one of the lucky loser singles draw, Kristin Buth won the close match against Kat Facey of UC Irvine, 3-6, 6-1, 10-4. In the same round, Hailey Johnson saw that Priscilla Annoual of Grand Canyon was too much for her as she fell, 6-0, 6-1.
In the second round of the lucky loser draw Olivia Larsson took down Jessica Pepa of Fullerton, 6-1, 7-5. Kelsey Daguio of Hawai'i was able to take her match against Isabelle Hoorn as Hoorn was forced to retire due to injury, 5-4, ret. Marivick Mamiit of UC Irvine topped Kennedy Davis in their match, 7-5, 6-4.
In the round of 16 in the doubles draw, Jennifer Brady and Catherine Harrison of UCLA came out on top over Olivia Larsson and Dora Somoracz, 8-4. The SDSU doubles duo were the final doubles team standing for San Diego State.
With the results from day three, SDSU has completed official play in the regional. The tournament will continue tomorrow at Aztec Tennis Center. Complete results from day three will be posted on GoAztecs.com.
