San Diego State junior Shanieka Thomas finished sixth in the final of the triple jump at the World University Games Thursday in Kazan, Russia.

Thomas, who advanced to the 12-entrant final with a leap of 44-06.75 (13.58m) in the qualification rounds on Tuesday, posted a best mark of 44-04.75 (13.53m) on her first jump of the day into a headwind. Thomas followed with marks of 42-11.75 (13.10m), 43-03.75 (13.20m), 44-02.50 (13.47m), 43-10.50 (13.37m) and 43-04.50 (13.22m).

Russia's Ekaterina Koneva won the event with a jump of 48-07.50 (14.82m), while Poland's Anna Jagaciak (46-07.50 (14.21m)) and Romania's Carmen Cristina Toma (46-04.75 (14.14m)) rounded out the top three.

Thomas finished her 2013 outdoor season with triple jump titles at the NCAA Championships (46-04.75), NCAA West Prelims (46-02.00), Mountain West Championships (46-05.25) and Penn Relays (44-08.00). In the indoor campaign, Thomas was runner-up at the NCAA Championships (45-05.25), and claimed titles at the Mountain West Championships (43-09.00), Don Kirby Elite Invitational (46-02.50), New Mexico Classic (44-04.00) and Cherry & Silver Invitational (44-02.50).
