USA CHAMPIONSHIPS RESULTS | CANADIAN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS RESULTS

San Diego State junior Allison Reaser finished 14th in the heptathlon at the USA Championships, which was completed Friday in Des Moines, Iowa.

Despite battling an illness throughout the two-day, seven-event competition, Reaser maintained her 14th-place showing from the first day on Thursday, totaling 5,495 points. Last year at the U.S. Olympic Trials she came in 15th. Asics' Sharon Day won the event with a total of 6,550 points. Bettie Wade (Nike) (6,018), Erica Bougard (Unattached) (5,990), Ryann Krais (Nike) (5,957) and Heather Miller (Central Park Track Club) (5,945) rounded out the top five of the heptathlon, which started with 17 entrants.

Reaser began the second day with a 14th-place showing in the long jump with a leap of 18-05.00 (5.61m) for 732 points. Next up was the javelin, where the three-time Mountain West champion came in 11th with a heave of 117-6 (35.83m) for 587 points. Reaser ended the grueling two-day event with a 13th-place effort in the 800 meters with a time of 2 minutes, 19.93 seconds for 824 final points.

"Allison came out and did the best she could at USA's," Aztec head coach Shelia Burrell said. "It's not what we had prepared for leading into this part of the season, but unfortunately she got sick before the start of the meet and still managed to compete to the best of her ability.

"This weekend with Niki (Oudenaarden) and Shanieka (Thomas) competing in their respective national championships, along with Allison (Reaser), SDSU is being well represented by the tenacity of these three women."

Freshman Nicole Oudenaarden competed in the shot put today at the Canadian National Championships, taking 10th with a heave of 40-10.25 (12.45m). Julie Labonté (Fleur de Lys) won the event with a mark of 57-10.25 (17.63m).

Oudenaarden will wrap up her competition at the Canadian National Championships on Saturday in the javelin throw beginning at 6:15 p.m. ADT (2:15 p.m. PDT).
